Middle School Outreach – March

Hi everyone!  Isn’t this year flying by?  We’re already in March, which means that there are only three months left of this school year!  Time sure flies when you’re having fun, right? Right? Anyways, I hope you all have a great spring break and get lots of sun, sleep or both!

Question:

Is high school fun?

Response:

What a broad question, but overall I would have to say yes.  Personally, my 17 years on this earth have been a blast, but these past two and half years have been my favorite.  A lot of stuff has happened. I have lost friends and gained new ones. I have learned a lot about myself, who I am, and what I am willing to fight for.  Many people will tell you that high school was not a fun experience for them, but it all depends on how much effort you put in to your short four years. And yes, I mean short.

Back to my first point, friends.  Friendships change a lot throughout high school.  I know that people will tell you that you will not end high school with the same friend group you started with, and they are right.  I know, I know, “But me and my friends have been together for like, millions of years.” I’ve been there. However, that statement is not entirely true.  You might still have friends you stick with, but there are others that may leave. And that’s okay. Everyone is just trying to find their place in the world, and  high school is a place where that happens a lot.

I’m not going to cover learning about myself just yet.  I will wait and tackle that one later. But I can tell you about finding what you’re willing to fight for.  And I am not talking punching and kicking, because I don’t condone violence. I am talking about what you are willing to put yourself out there and stand up for.  What drives you? What are your beliefs? What are you willing to put yourself on the line for? For some of you it might be standing up for others, your faith, fairness, against bullying or maybe even donuts (not that I know anything about that one though).  So, I encourage you to find that. Find a reason to get out of bed in the morning and chase that passionately.

Now get out there and find what makes you happy,

Peyton
