Middle School Outreach – May

Hello, everyone.  We are finally in the home stretch and final days of the 2018-2019 school year! We made it!  I hope everyone had a somewhat decent time and everyone has a fun and safe summer!

Question:  I’m nervous.  What should I do to prepare for my first year of high school?

Response:  I remember the feeling like it was yesterday.  Trying to decide what to wear, how to act, and who to hang out with.  But before all of that happens, enjoy your last summer! Make sure you spend time with your friends.  Have late night bonfires and enjoy life where it’s at now. This is your last summer before you have too much responsibility.  Try new things, go on adventures, and be nice to your parents. As nervous as you are about high school, your parents are just as anxious.

That brings me to my next point: parents.  Parents and parental figures are so important.  Try not to forget about them and always talk to them.  Make an effort to reach out and maybe even hang out with them once in a while.  I know it sounds crazy, “Hang out with my parents? Okay Peyton. My parents don’t even know how to text!”  If that’s the case, maybe show them how to use the new fancy technology. I can tell you personally, one of my favorite things is when my mom texts me and tells me to have a good day.  And if your parents and you don’t really get along, find an adult you can talk to and have a relationship with them. I promise it will be worth it!

“The trick is to enjoy life.  Don’t wish away your days waiting for better ones ahead.”

See you soon!
